When planning our vacation I started thinking of all the things that could possibly go wrong that I needed to prepare for ahead of time. One big thing when traveling is that we may loose one of kids. I remember about two weeks after Sadie was born my mom and sister came to visit and we decided to take all the kids to Wet’ n’ Wild. We were all packed up, picked up some pizza for lunch, and were ready for some fun! While in the midst of the fun we lost a child-IN A WATER PARK! By far the worst experience of my sister’s life as it was her only child at the time. We were panicked racing around to find him. We all just felt so helpless searching and searching luckily what seemed like forever was under 3-5 minutes until we located him. Remembering that dreadful moment of a rather fun day I wanted to do my best to make sure this didn’t happen again. I started researching the best tips to help prevent this, and what to do when it happens. Here are the top 4 tips I found helpful for our family:
- Snap a picture each morning before you leave the hotel. In case one kid gets lost you have a recent picture plus you know exactly what they are wearing.
- Stand out in a crowd. Wear matching colors, matching hats, or decorate your stroller to stand out. Velcro a superman cape to the handle bars or mark your stroller with a balloon.
- Talk about what your children should do in the event they find themselves alone and lost. Stay in the same area they became lost in. Look for a Mom with kids, or a Park Employee (be sure to point these out in advanced so they know who to look for). Go to a concession stand, game stand, or ride and tell them I am lost and need to find my parents.
- Make sure your child knows your phone number. In the event that they become lost and need to contact you. For older kids this will be simple memorization or maybe even their own cell phone, but the younger ones will need a SAFETY TAT.
I found Safety Tat and it was like an extra layer of protection that I just NEEDED to have-as a mother I want to do EVERYTHING I can to make sure my children will be safe no matter what but sometimes things happen and we need back up. I think Safety Tat is genius and a must have for family outings! It was designed by a mother who was facing the same dilemma. Safety Tat uses medical-grade, hypoallergenic, and latex-free adhesives on all it’s products. They are super easy to apply, long lasting, and are removable with oil. They also offer a variety of tattoos the “Please Call if Lost”, “Allergies-Ask First”, and the “Medical” version. In addition to these great versions they also offer a write on version of the tattoo!
Guess what my fabulous readers!? Safety Tat has generously offered to give one of you a set of Safety Tats and the rest of us get a special coupon code: MOM254321 which you can use to enjoy 10% off your order, no minimum purchase. The code good now through September 2, 2014.
